Towards the end of 1968 with a wife and new born to support, Elvis had to do something drastic to resurrect his faltering career. Leather clad, he performed a dynamic live TV Special, which triumphantly proved the catalyst that saw him through the rest of his life. For the next 8 years, despite faltering health, he performed over 1,100 concerts, essentially to fund his lavish lifestyle.
This image tries to capture how much he enjoyed himself at the outset of this crazy schedule, and to encapsulate his phenomenal magnetism.
Leather in black acrylic, white chalk and coloured pencils.
