On a warm Spring day I found myself in a beautiful library in tiny Port Perry, Ontario. I was reading an old Rolling Stone, an article about Tupac Shakur was keeping my attention from the gorgeously shimmering Lake Skugog. He was an amazing man, well spoken and always positive on all things, except poverty...."I think rich people should live like poor people and poor people should live like rich people and they should change every week.”
Folk may be shocked to hear that William Shakespeare heavily influenced the rapper. He studied the English writer when he attended the Baltimore School for the Arts and said: "I love Shakespeare. He wrote some of the rawest stories, man. I mean look at Romeo and Juliet. That’s some serious ghetto shit."
He spoke out against Trump as early as 1992. In an unreleased interview with MTV, Tupac said: ‘Everybody’s taught that. You wanna be successful? You wanna be like Trump? Gimme gimme gimme, push push push push, step step step, crush crush crush. That’s how it all is… It’s too much money here."
A beautiful human being and a tragic loss to the planet at age 25. RIP Pac.
