He had beautiful eyes and they are the magnetic focus in this painting. I deliberately used an off-square rectangle to frame his head and hands, thus creating an uneasy positional quality. He didn't have an easy life, but confronted all the challenges his sexuality manifested. Like Bowie, he opened our minds and blazed a trail towards more tolerance on our wee blue marble.
