At Art School in Aberdeen our favoured boozer was Ma Camerons. At weekends a mature fellow student (now sadly deceased) took to the mike and played Johnny Cash loud and relentlessly, much to our irritation. On reflection he was way ahead of me, as the years passing have brought me an appreciation of the Man in Black. At the very least he offered an introduction to these great songs with all that booming brainwashing.
So, with all these fond recollections I set about another portrait of the man beginning to lose his youth, with San Quentin echoing round my flat. I believe he was really getting Christianity about this time, so I've included an appropriate quote on his cheek.
This is a one-off Original piece on Saunders Waterford 300gsm HP paper, using mixed media including Watercolour Paint, Acrylic Paint, Inktense Pencils and occasionally Unison Colour Soft Pastels.
