The son of a coal miner from Newcastle, born with a crooning voice and suave good looks. He formed Roxy Music in 1971 after studying at his local Art School and proceeded to make several ground breaking albums with sensational sleeves. In 1973 he released his first solo album demonstrating a totally different approach to Roxy's output. An album of covers, the words from "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes" a 1933 composition and a hit for The Platters, are written beside his face.
