"Amy 27," named for obvious reasons, is a painting I did after reading her Mum's reflections on her daughter's brilliantly tragic life. She refers to Amy's self destructive behaviour - self-harming at 9, shoplifting at 10, smoking by 12 and Southern Comfort at 15. She writes "I knew she was angel and devil rolled into one." She even considered having her sectioned, but just couldn't "pull the trigger." Hence my grey and sombre mood for this image, and her quietly desperate gaze out of the frame.
This is a one-off Original piece on Saunders Waterford 300gsm HP paper, using mixed media including Watercolour Paint, Acrylic Paint, Inktense Pencils and occasionally Unison Colour Soft Pastels.
