Aberdeen in the sixties, it was a struggle to hear new music. We had a record store full of elderly but obliging men who did their level best to keep up with the new trends. My pal and I would invent bizarre names for bands then watch the old boys scurry around in hopeless pursuit of the Sahara Malignant Opera or Gonzo's Dildo.
Anyway, I spent some of my grant money in the late summer of 1969 purchasing "Empty Sky" which the dodderer eventually located under "J." I don't think it charted, but it was the start of big things for Elton.
