"Sometimes I am 2 people. Johnny is the nice one, Cash causes all the trouble". I can identify so strongly with JC so I'm frequently drawn back to him. Always liked him, but the late stuff with Rick Rubin absolutely captures me. I was listening to "....patently unclear if it's New York or New Year..." and just had to paint this dark interpretation.
He always faced the lens down (even on his death bed) and I can see the honesty, yet the self doubt and anxiety, in those eyes.
Rubin said of Cash "there’s something very beautiful in seeing someone allowing themselves to be vulnerable."
This is a one-off Original piece on Saunders Waterford 300gsm HP paper, using mixed media including Watercolour Paint, Acrylic Paint, Inktense Pencils and occasionally Unison Colour Soft Pastels.
