The razzmatazz of Elton's live shows and Bernie's reflective lyrics are the inspiration for this image. "Candle in the Wind" is a tour de force, and the image of Marilyn standing atop a subway grate on the corner of Lexington and 52nd Street is etched on my memory. I dreamed she was ghostly against the Milky Way bursting out of Elton feathery epaulettes. I'm re-living very happy times from a distant age. It has made this life very pleasurable in ways that could not have been foreseen in the beginning.
