This footage made a big impression on me when I first viewed it on the evening news, in grainy black and white. We knew it was the final time we'd see this phenomenon together. Viewing it again 52 years later I had to make an image of this bit of history. I've moved the architecture and taken liberties all over the place, but I have a painting of that cold and windy afternoon in a grey London.
This is a one-off Original piece on Saunders Waterford 300gsm HP paper, using mixed media including Watercolour Paint, Acrylic Paint, Inktense Pencils and occasionally Unison Colour Soft Pastels.
